How certain are the outputs of a machine learning model, and where does that uncertainty come from? This course helps participants trace uncertainty across the full data-driven research workflow - from data generation, measurement, and labeling to modeling, evaluation, decision-making, and the use of Large Language Models. Led by *Cornelia Gruber* (Department of Statistics, LMU Munich), this course will be spread across 4 sessions over 4 week. It is *open to all researchers*, free of charge, and will be conducted in English via Zoom. Each week consists of a lecture, followd by an enxtensive Q&A session. Participants will explore key concepts like aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty, question "ground truth" assumptions by looking at human disagreement in datasets, and learn to interpret probabilistic predictions for real-world decision-making. By the end of the course, you will be better equipped to analyze what a model output really means, what it might be hiding, and how to make uncertainty visible in your own research. The application deadline is *August 4th, 2026 (CEST)*. Because participation is limited and demand usually exceeds capacity, the application form includes a few questions about your background.
