Workshop on Data from eDNA Analyses | Nov 4–5 in Bremen

Dear colleagues, we would like to share an upcoming workshop that may be of interest to researchers and data professionals working with molecular biodiversity and eDNA data. The “mareXtreme & Beyond: Workshop on Data from eDNA Analyses” will take place November 4–5, 2026, at the University of Bremen. The workshop combines research presentations on eDNA data collection and analysis with a session on data management and publication, covering topics such as the publication of sequences, OTU/ASV and qPCR tables and contextual data according to the FAIR principles. Colleagues from GFBio, the ASV Registry and PANGAEA will contribute to the programme. There are still places available. Early career researchers working with eDNA data are especially encouraged to participate and can apply for a short oral presentation. In this workshop, we will introduce the new API, demonstrate its capabilities, and showcase two additional recent additions to Bac/Dive/: the GenomeBrowser and a global Genomic Feature Search. Legal Training: "Data Protection on a Silver Platter" on 13-15 October 2026

Hello togehter, I wanted to draw your attention to an upcoming workshop that might be interesting for anyone working with personal data in research: Legal Workshop Series: "Data Protection on a Silver Platter" * 13-15 October 2026, 10:00-12:00 each day * Online * Language: English * Free of charge The three-part workshop is part of the legal workshop series by FAIRagro, NFDI4Earth and NFDI4Biodiversity and provides a practical introduction to data protection and the GDPR in the context of agricultural, environmental and earth system science. Topics include identifying when the GDPR applies, legal bases for processing personal data, privacy notices, anonymisation and pseudonymisation, and informed consent. The sessions are particularly relevant for research involving, for example, interviews, geolocation, drone footage, recordings, or other situations where personal data may be collected. Please note that the three sessions build on one another and take place on consecutive days, so participants are expected to attend all three.
