Research, FAIRagro, NFDI4Biodiversity and NFDI4Earth present you another
Episode all about CARE!

*Content: CARE-ing about Indigenous Data in a Wide World*
Indigenous Data Sovereignty, Governance, and Ethics refers to the rights
of indigenous peoples to manage their data (sovereignty) and how it’s
used by others (governance). The terms build upon the UN Declaration on
the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and is most widely known today through
the acronym CARE: Collective Benefit, Authority to Control,
Responsibility, Ethics. While these lofty principles may be universal,
practical implementation is often bounded by the jurisdictions that the
data lives in – who and where it was collected, where it will be
analyzed, where it will be stored.
In this workshop we will discuss Indigenous Data Sovereignty,
Governance, and Ethics and how to apply the CARE Principles to your
work. We will look at practical case studies around claimed indigenous
data and look for relationships between them and your research.
*Target Group: Researchers, data stewards, etc. from agricultural,
biodiversity and earth system research.
