The community newsletter kicks off with a special edition containing
information about our second FAIR Data Spaces project workshop on 15 March
2022. Our workshop was part of the BMBF event Leitbild einer fairen

Im Rahmen der Konsortialversammlung am 1. April 2022 haben die
Sprecher:innen der Konsortien gemäß Satzung einstimmig einen neuen Vorsitz
für das Vereinsorgan gewählt. Prof. Dr. Andreas Witt (Text+) löst Prof. Dr.
Christoph Steinbeck (NFDI4Chem) als Vorsitzenden ab, Dr. Dirk von
Suchodoletz (DataPLANT) wurde als stellvertretender Vorsitzender
wiedergewählt.

Chair of the Consortia Assembly elected
At the Consortium Assembly on 1 April 2022, the speakers of the consortia
unanimously elected a new chair for the association body. Prof. Dr. Andreas
Witt (Text+) replaces Prof. Dr. Christoph Steinbeck (NFDI4Chem) as chairman,
Dr. Dirk von Suchodoletz (DataPLANT) was re-elected as deputy chairman.

Der Krieg in der Ukraine richtet verheerende Zerstörungen an. Jeden Tag
gehen digitale Datenschätze von ukrainischen Wissenschaftlern und
Kulturschaffenden für immer verloren. NFDI will helfen, diese Daten zu
erhalten. Wir haben direkten Kontakt mit den Organisatoren von SUCHO (Saving
Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online) aufgenommen und uns nach dem aktuellen
Bedarf erkundigt. Im Moment werden helfende Hände und vor allem erfahrene
Web-Experten benötigt.

treasures of Ukrainian scientists and cultural workers are lost forever.
NFDI wants to help preserve these data. We have made direct contact with the

about current needs. At the moment helping hands and especially skilled web
experts are needed.

Hoher Bedarf an forschungsethischer Begutachtung und Unterstützung bei
Forschenden
Eine von der AG Forschungsethik des Rats für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten
(RatSWD) durchgeführte Umfrage unter Forschenden ergab, dass
disziplinübergreifend ein hoher Bedarf an der Begutachtung von
Forschungsvorhaben durch Ethikkommissionen und an Unterstützungsangeboten
besteht. Die Ergebnisse der Umfrage wurden jetzt in einem Working Paper des
RatSWD veröffentlicht.

Research ethics review in high demand. Results from a survey
A survey of researchers conducted by the German Data Forums (RatSWD)
Research Ethics Working Group revealed that there is a high demand across
disciplines for the review of research projects by ethics committees and for
related support services. The results of the survey have now been published
in a RatSWD working paper.

Neue Impulse für die KonsortSWD-Community
KonsortSWD diskutierte bei seiner Community Conference Forschungsdaten. Mit
Euch. Denken. am 7.April 2022 über Dienste und aktuelle Themen rund um
Forschungsdateninfrastruktur. Ein Schwerpunkt war Präregistrierung.
Die virtuelle Veranstaltung mit 80 Teilnehmenden war darauf ausgelegt,
aktuelle Informationen über bei KonsortSWD entstehende Angebote
vorzustellen. Daneben war ein wesentliches Ziel, den Austausch mit
Forschenden und Kolleg:innen aus den vom RatSWD akkreditierten
Forschungsdatenzentren (FDZ) und FDM-Professionals z.B. aus den
Beratungsstellen der Hochschulen zu vertiefen.

New impulses for the KonsortSWD community
At its Community Conference on April 7, 2022, KonsortSWD discussed services,
service-needs and other current topics related to research data
infrastructure. One focus was preregistration.The virtual event with 80
participants was designed to present current information about services
emerging at KonsortSWD. In addition, a major goal was to intensify the
exchange with researchers and colleagues from the RatSWD-accredited research
data centers (FDZ) and FDM professionals - e.g., from university counseling
centers.

NFDI4Earth Kick-off Veranstaltung
Die Community der Erdsystemwissenschaftler:innen trifft sich zum offiziellen
Kick-off der NFDI4Earth am 9. und 10. Juni 2022 in Dresden, um sich nach
langer Zeit einmal wieder-zusehen, sich miteinander und mit Kolleg:innen
anderer NFDI-Initiativen stärker zu vernetzen sowie den aktuellen Stand des
Projektes zu präsentieren und die neueste Entwicklungen im
Forschungsdatenmanagement zu diskutieren. Hierzu sind alle
Projektbeteiligten, aber auch interessierte Wissenschaftler:innen aus allen
Domänen der Erdsystemwissenschaften herzlich eingeladen.

NFDI4Earth Kick off event
The Earth System Science community will meet for the official kick-off of
NFDI4Earth on June 9 and 10, 2022, in Dresden to see each other again after
a long time, to network more closely, also with colleagues from other NFDI
initiatives, and to present the current status of the project as well as to
discuss the latest developments in research data management.

Hands-on-Workshop zu Chemotion ELN
Der Einstieg in etwas Neues funktioniert am besten nach einer einfachen
Strategie: Learning by doing. Basierend auf diesem Konzept haben wir einen
neuen Workshop entwickelt, in dem wir das elektronische Laborjournal
Chemotion und seine Funktionen für Anfänger*innen auf interaktive Weise
vorstellen. Die verschiedenen Funktionen des ELN werden in mehreren Modulen
von Mitgliedern unseres Chemotion-Teams erklärt, kombiniert mit konkreten
Übungen, in denen Sie ELN-Einträge selbst erstellen und bearbeiten. Während
der Übungen haben Sie die Möglichkeit, direkt Fragen zu stellen und
auftretende Probleme mit den Chemotion-Trainern zu diskutieren.

Chemotion ELN Hands-on Workshop
Getting started with something new most likely works best following a simple
strategy: learning by doing. Based on this concept, we have created a new
workshop in which we introduce the electronic laboratory notebook Chemotion
and its features for beginners in an interactive way. The various features
of the ELN are explained in several modules by members of our Chemotion team
combined with specific exercises in which you will create and edit ELN
entries hands-on. During the exercises, you have the opportunity to directly
ask questions and discuss arising problems with the Chemotion trainers.
On Friday, July 8, from 09.00 to 15.00 CEST we will offer the first open
