Zum 1. Dezember wurden die vorgesehenen Mitwirkungsmöglichkeiten für
Fachverbände und -Verbünde initialisiert: Drei Scientific Coordination
Committees sowie das Operations Coordination Committee von Text+ wurden
besetzt. Sie sind ein wichtiger Teil der Governance, um die Mitwirkung der
Community in der Angebotsgestaltung und Ausrichtung von Text+
sicherzustellen. Die Committees sind mit ausgewiesenen Expert:innen
verschiedener Datendomänen besetzt und werden in den kommenden Jahren die
Arbeit in den Arbeitsgruppen Sammlungen, Editionen, Lexikalische Ressourcen

Coordination Committee
On December 1, the intended opportunities for participation for professional
associations were initialized: Three Scientific Coordination Committees and
the Text+ Operations Coordination Committee were initially filled. They are
an important part of governance to ensure community participation in the
design and alignment of Text+. The committees are made up of recognized
experts from various data domains and will accompany the work in the working
groups Collections, Editions, Lexical Resources and
Infrastructure/Operations in the coming years. More

Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) hat einen Zeitplan für das
Entscheidungsverfahren zur Förderung von Basisdiensten in der Nationalen
Forschungsdateninfrastruktur publiziert. Im Januar 2022 soll demnach die
Ausschreibung zur Beantragung von Basisdienst-Konsortien veröffentlicht
werden. Die finale Entscheidung über die Förderung von
Basisdienst-Konsortien wird die Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz (GWK) im
November 2022 treffen.

DFG FG publishes timetable for basic service consortia
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) has
published a schedule for the decision-making process for funding basic
services in the National Research Data Infrastructure. According to the
schedule, the call for proposals for basic service consortia will be
published in January 2022. The final decision on the funding of basic
service consortia will be made by the Joint Science Conference (GWK) in
November 2022 .

Moderne Forschungspolitik in Sicht: Position des RatSWD zum
Koalitionsvertrag auf Bundesebene
Der Koalitionsvertrag der neuen Regierung setzt aus Sicht des Rats für
Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten (RatSWD) neue und positive Akzente. Die
Digitalisierung soll ressortübergreifend vorangetrieben werden und eine
vertiefte Zusammenarbeit zwischen Politik und Wissenschaft wird angestrebt.
Besonders begrüßt wird das Ziel, ein Forschungsdatengesetz zu erarbeiten und
Daten insgesamt für die Wissenschaft besser zugänglich zu machen. Der RatSWD
wird die Umsetzung der Vorhaben eng begleiten und unterstützen.

Modern Research Politics in Sight: Position of the RatSWD on the Coalition
Agreement at the Federal Level
In the view of the Rat für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten (RatSWD), the
coalition agreement of the new government sets new and positive accents.
Digitalisation should be promoted across different departments and a
deepened cooperation between politics and science is strived for. The goal
of drafting a research data law and making data as a whole more accessible
to science is particularly welcomed. The RatSWD will closely accompany and
support the implementation of the projects.

Rechtliche Fragen zur Bereitstellung sensibler Daten adressiert
Ein Ergebnisworkshop im Konsortium für Sozial-, Verhaltens-, Bildungs- und
Wirtschaftswissenschaften (KonsortSWD) im Dezember hat die juristischen
Aspekte der Bereitstellung sensibler Daten adressiert. Es wurden rechtliche
Fragen der Forschungsdatenzentren der Sozial-, Verhaltens-, Bildungs- und
Wirtschaftswissenschaften unter Einbeziehung juristischer Expertise
beantwortet, diskutiert und daran anknüpfend ein Musterdatennutzungsvertrag
zur Bereitstellung von Forschungsdaten vorgestellt.

Legal issues of providing sensitive data addressed
The Consortium for Social, Behavioral, Educational and Economic Sciences
(KonsortSWD) held an event in December that addressed legal aspects of
providing sensitive data. Legal questions raised by research data centers in
the social, behavioral, educational, and economic sciences were answered and
discussed with legal expertise, and a model contract for the provision of
research data was presented as a follow-up.

NFDI im Koalitionsvertrag erwähnt
Im Koalitionsvertrag zwischen SPD, BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN und FDP wird NFDI
explizit erwähnt. Das ungenutzte Potential, das in zahlreichen
Forschungsdaten liegt, solle effektiver für innovative Ideen genutzt
werden. Die Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur wollen wir
weiterentwickeln und einen Europäischen Forschungsdatenraum vorantreiben,
heißt es in dem Dokument auf S. 21.

At the general meeting on November 10, three scientific members were elected
to four-year terms on the Board of Trustees. We congratulate Prof. Vivien
Petras, PhD, Prof. Dr. Dörte Schmidt and Dr. Sonja Schimmler on their new
function. The Board of Trustees is the administrative-strategic control
organ of the association.

FAIR4Chem Award 2022: Der FAIRste Datensatz der Chemie
Mit dem FAIR4Chem Award zeichnet das NFDI4Chem-Konsortium Forschende aus der
Chemie aus, die ihre Forschungsdaten veröffentlichen. Ausgezeichnet werden
Datensätze, die die FAIR-Prinzipien (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable,
Reusable) am besten erfüllen und damit einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur
Erhöhung der Transparenz in der Forschung und der Wiederverwendung von
wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnissen leisten. Das Preisgeld beträgt 500 Euro.
Bis 15. Dezember 2021 können Datensätze eingereicht werden.

In der zweiten Ausgabe von Cell Genomics drehte sich alles um die Globale
Allianz für Genomik und Gesundheit (The Global Alliance for Genomics and

NFDI4Ing Konferenz 2021: Abstractsammlung veröffentlicht
"Stand und Zukunft des Forschungsdatenmanagements" war das diesjährige Thema
der NFDI4Ing Konferenz im September. In 29 Vorträgen und 8 Workshops wurden
innovative Ansätze in den Themenbereichen "Infrastruktur",
"Forschungssoftware", "Best Practices" und "Kooperation" vorgestellt und

"State and Future of Research Data Managements" was this years topic at the
NFDI4Ing Conference in September. Innovative approaches to the subject areas
"Infrastructure", "Research Software", "Best Practices" and "Cooperation"

1st Editors4Chem Workshop
NFDI4Chem together with representatives from IUPAC organised the 1st
Editors4Chem workshop on 3 November. This workshop is part of the holistic
strategy in NFDI4Chem to ramp up the adoption of FAIR data in chemistry by
interfacing with the scholarly publication processes. This will be achieved
by collaborating with publishers on a set of pilot activities that the
journals can adopt, to implement recommendations to journals author
guidelines. 18 editors representing at least 25 chemistry journals across
five publishers signed up for this workshop.

Mittendrin statt nur dabei - das zweite NFDI4Culture Community Plenary
Vom 17.-19. November trafen sich im Rahmen der Online-Veranstaltung alle
Mitglieder, Partner und Leitungsgremien des Konsortiums sowie Gäste aus der
nationalen und internationalen Forschung und Infrastruktur. Als wichtigste
partizipatorische Struktur des Konsortiums umfasste die Veranstaltung
Workshops und Vorträge, Berichte über Fortschritte des Arbeitsprogramms und
Sitzungen der leitenden Gremien.

We're all in this together - the second NFDI4Culture Community Plenary
From 17-19th November the online event brought together all members,
participants and governing boards of the consortium, as well as guests from
both national and international research and infrastructure institutions.
Being the main participatory structure of the consortium, the event included
workshops and presentations, progress reports on the work programme and
meetings of the governing boards.
