Dear all,
there will be an interesting Seminar coming up in two weeks time,
handling Metadata Standards and Metadata harvesting.
It is not concerning us 100% directly, but I hope that there will be delivered
standards for handling Metadata standards and to see how Metadata harvesting is working.
Further information are below.
Best wishes and see you soon,
Sebastian

Join the FAO AGRIS Webinar: Enhancing Metadata Standards & OAI-PMH Compliance for
current and prospective AGRIS Data Providers on 27 May 2025
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
(
FAO)<https://newsletters.fao.org/c/11S7OJuIe7TxNFe7cRgRMmuhC> is pleased to invite
current and prospective data providers to an
AGRIS<https://newsletters.fao.org/c/11S7OJGezqYS2wqdmDmZfsJdz> webinar focused on
improving the quality, interoperability, and accessibility of agricultural knowledge
through metadata standards and OAI-PMH compliance on 27 May at 14:00 CEST.
As a global information system for agriculture and allied sciences - The International
System for Agricultural Science and Technology, AGRIS depends on structured and
standardized metadata to provide open access to a wealth of bibliographic records from
across the world.
This webinar will help participants:
· Understand AGRIS metadata requirements and how they support discoverability;
· Learn about the OAI-PMH protocol and how it facilitates metadata harvesting from
institutional repositories;
· Receive practical guidance on preparing repositories for AGRIS integration,
including metadata formatting and endpoint validation;
· Discover tools and resources provided by FAO to support new data providers.
This webinar is ideal for:
· Institutions planning to contribute data to the AGRIS database;
· Librarians and information specialists managing institutional repositories;
· Developers and system administrators involved in metadata harvesting;
· Researchers and data managers focused on agricultural data sharing.
By aligning with AGRIS metadata standards and ensuring OAI-PMH compliance, institutions
can increase visibility and global access to their agricultural research outputs, join a
network of over 1400 data providers from 160+ countries, and contribute to a global public
good that supports sustainable agriculture and food security.
