Subject: Save-the-date - 2nd NFDI Metadata Workshop June 25-27 , TIB Hannover
Date: Friday, 2025-04-11 18:28:48 CEST
From: Koepler, Oliver <Oliver.Koepler(a)tib.eu>
Dear colleagues and metadata enthusiasts,
It is my very pleasure to announce the 2nd NFDI Metadata Workshop
<
https://www.nfdi.de/2nd-nfdi-metadata-workshop/> from June 25-27
(lunch-to-lunch) at TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and
Technology, Hannover, organised by the Task Force Metadata & NFDI4Chem.
We are very excited to have found the space and funding to offer another
face-to-face workshop for in-depth discussion and collaboration.
In the workshop we want to continue the discussion about generic metadata
schemas like
schema.org, DataCite and DCAT to be utilised across all NFDI
communities.
We further want to extend the discussion on activities about discipline
specific metadata schemas. How can we extend generic schemas (i.e. as
DCAT application profiles) and / or link generic and disciplines specific
schemas.
There will be plenty of room and time for break-out sessions to discuss. We
would love to see consortia team up to discuss shared "discipline-specific"
schemas and mappings. You are further invited to bring your data and do some
actual annotating with the metadata schemas in question.
As results of the workshop we aim to:
* publish a workshop report
* initiate and publish a white paper with recommendations on how to use the
identified metadata schemas across the consortia
* initiate and publish recommendations / guidelines on how to develop DCAT
application profiles for disciplines
* create living / interactive document / resources with recommendations on how
to use identified metadata schemas across the consortia
We invite all consortia and their metadata experts to participate in NFDI-wide
discussion and joint efforts to work on NFDI standards for metadata.
More detailed information on the workshop and agenda/program will follow
soon.
Best regards,
Oliver Koepler, Taskforce Metadata, and the workshop organisation team
