BioMed Metadata Interoperability: Workshop at BioMed Meeting Dec 3-4, agenda

Dear Metadata Interoperabilty Members, at the upcoming BioMed Meeting in Cologne, 3-4 of December, will be a Workshop for Metadata, in which we shall elaborate the following: * Current handling of Metadata in each consortia * General benefit of having/using metadata * How we interact with each other * Describing a vision of how Metadata interoperability shall look like in the end In our previous meetings we have already discussed several of these topics, which I will be using in order to create a template and overview of already existing information. These will be circulated at some point next week, so that you can already have an idea of where we are, and see the basis of our discussion at the BioMed meeting, where the outcome shall be a document summarizing all of the above points. For the case you spot some missing points/information, you can either let me know upfront or we'll discuss it at the Workshop. In the case we have some spare time, due to our excellent time management and efficient & streamlined mode of operation, we can discuss the minimal set of metadata that we all share in some form, and that can be used to find an interesting dataset in each of our repositories concerning one topic. It is important that BioMed can be seen as a natural entity. - Questions to the timeline presentation last week - Deliverables currently without owners will be advised to an owner by TA-leads - Measures and milestones in the application are currently being mapped to the existing deliverables by Busse, Mariama and Ulrik - The measures and milestones mapping will be used to refine deliverables. - Focus group updates - Logging framework (Conny) - Module based - First focus is Search functionality - Metadata schema (Sebastian Böhm) - Version 0.9.0 released - Discussed separation of human and non-human data. Virtual Conference of the International Society of Biocuration

On the first session on March 9th, we will also have a panel "curation beyond biocuration" which is of general interest to the NFDI since it's about how to take best practices from one domain to another. Tomorrow Mariama will give the second instalment of how to work with Git and GitLab. November 20, Ulrik will present the consortium timeline for the second phase of the funding period. Next call is Thursday [date] at 11:00. ## Action Items - Ulrik: Connect Vera and Mariama for implementation of submission and validation related endpoints in the API Gateway. - SF: Finalize review of flow data merge request by next week ## Call Summary - Ulrik gave updates from EOSC Symposium and AI in Health meetings - EOSC Symposium: Minimal content delivered; many issues identified, but solutions remain unclear. Overall, not highly relevant. - AI in Health: Industry is integrating AI into processes, but details are vague. Novo Nordisk made provocative remarks, suggesting experiments should simply be repeated with larger cohorts. Limited takeaways for us this year, but we hope to present next year. - Updates from the focus groups - Metadata Group (SB): - Development branch is progressing well. - Expected to be completed for WP25 by mid/late next week and merged into the main branch. - Metadata for Mass cytometry is planned for a February update. - Submission Pipeline (VB): - Demonstration of submission pipeline with file upload and metadata validation. File upload control implemented, allowing all listed files to be uploaded simultaneously during submission. Upload progress is displayed. - Validation is possible on the HTML page, but often shows one error at a time. - API validation is also available. The system is functional but requires adjustments for the WP25 metadata model. - Note: Streaming of file content is only supported by Chrome and Edge. - HealthDCAT.AP (SB): - Compliance is required eventually, but it won't be implemented for WP25. - Mapping is ongoing.
