Stellungnahme zum Forschungsdatengesetz
NFDI hat sich an der Anhörung des Bundesministeriums für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt zum geplanten Forschungsdatengesetz beteiligt. In ihrer Stellungnahme begrüßt NFDI die Einrichtung eines Deutschen
Zentrums für Mikrodaten, fordert die Standardisierung sicherer Verarbeitungsumgebungen und regt weitere Schritte zur allgemeineren Verfügbarkeit von Metadaten an. Die vollständige Stellungnahme finden Sie

NFDI4Chem präsentiert ein weiteres Tool: ChemAudit validiert chemische Moleküle, um falsche Strukturabbildungen, undefinierte Stereozentren, inkonsistente Standardisierungen und viele weitere Fehlerquellen zu

FAIRe Astrophysikalische Simulationen erreichen
Der Artikel “Towards
FAIR Astrophysical Simulations” untersucht, wie die FAIR Prinzipien in der numerischen Astrophysik umgesetzt werden können. Die wichtigsten Hürden auf dem Weg werden identifiziert. Dazu gehören riesige Datensets,
geringer Anreiz zum Teilen, und ein Mangel an Abläufen und Unterstützung für die Publikation von Daten und Software. Niedrigschwellige Schritte zur Erzeugung FAIRer (Meta-)Daten und Open Access Publikationen werden der Community vorgestellt.

Neu erschienen ist im „International Journal of Digital Earth“ der Beitrag „A
Scalable Matching Approach for
the Comparison of Agricultural Land Use Maps Based on Corresponding Field Polygons”, der sich mit der Schaffung von Synergien zwischen den vielfältigen Datensätzen mit Polygonen landwirtschaftlicher Flächen befasst
sowie mit deren Qualitätssicherung. Eine weitere FAIRagro-Publikation: „Long-Term
Field Experiments Overview Map:
An interactive open-access metadata
platform to enhance networking and data reuse“ in “Computers and Electronics in Agriculture” beschäftigt sich mit einer neuartigen Übersichtskarte
zu Langzeitversuchen in der Landwirtschaft (LTEs) – unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der FAIR-Prinzipien.

Neue Publikation: Active-Site-Engineering für nachhaltige Carbonylierungen
Im Journal of Catalysis (2026) zeigen Forschende des KIT gemeinsam mit Partnern von hte GmbH, BASF SE, Leipzig University
und der Universität Padua, wie sich durch die Einbindung von Phosphor in Palladium hocheffiziente Katalysatoren für die Carbonylierung von Arylhalogeniden entwickeln lassen.
Die Arbeit, unterstützt durch die NFDI4Cat-Community, demonstriert, wie datengetriebene Katalyseforschung und offene Forschungsdaten neue Impulse für das Design nachhaltiger Katalysatoren geben können.

MathModDB im Mittelpunkt
Im neuen MaRDI-Newsletter steht
die Plattform MathModDB im Mittelpunkt. Sie fördert den Wissensaustausch zwischen Disziplinen, insbesondere den Austausch und Vergleich mathematischer Modelle. Mathematische Modelle übersetzen reale Fragestellungen in Variablen und Gleichungen; eine einzige
Formel ist oft auf viele unterschiedliche Anwendungen übertragbar. Der Hauptartikel und das Videointerview zeigen konkrete Beispiele, wie MathModDB in der Praxis eingesetzt werden kann.

Interoperabilitätsanalyse des GHGA-Metadatenmodells
Interoperabilität zwischen Metadatenmodellen wird immer wichtiger, da Dateninfrastrukturen wachsen und zunehmend föderiert arbeiten. In
einer aktuellen Veröffentlichung in Scientific Data
analysiert GHGA, wie das GHGA-Metadatenmodell im Vergleich zu vier etablierten Modellen im Bereich der Genomik aufgestellt ist.

NFDI4DS Portal
Das NFDI4DS Portal erlaubt es, Ressourcen von NFDI4DS und anderen NFDI-Konsortien
Repositorien-übergreifend zu erkunden. Unterstützt wird der gesamte Zyklus der Sammlung, Aggregation, Bereitstellung und Nutzung von Forschungsdaten (Publikationen, Datensätze, Modelle und Code).
Das Portal bietet eine Webseite mit integrierter Suche und Exploration, Bewertung der Datenqualität und einen SPARQL-Endpunkt.

Droht ein "Digitales Dark Age"? – NFDI4Memory veröffentlicht Positionspapier
Das "Positionspapier NFDI4Memory: Damit wir auch zukünftig eine Vergangenheit haben – Für eine dem digitalen Zeitalter angemessene Ausbildung und Lehre in Archivwesen und Geschichtswissenschaft" macht aufmerksam
auf den Handlungsbedarf in Ausbildung und Lehre in Archivwesen und Geschichtswissenschaft. Das Positionspapier ist im Rahmen der Summer School „Linking Data|Linking Communities“ am Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg entstanden. Veröffentlicht auf Zenodo.

FAIRmat bei Love Data Week 2026

NOMAD als Plattform vor, auf der experimentelle und computergestützte Materialdaten gespeichert, strukturiert und zugänglich gemacht werden.

Bericht vom Culture Community Plenary 2025: „Datensouveränität, infrastrukturelle Resilienz und Wissenschaftsfreiheit“ und die Stimmen der Community

Statement on the Research Data Act
NFDI has participated in the association hearing
by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space regarding the planned Research Data Act (Forschungsdatengesetz) In its statement, NFDI welcomes the
establishment of a German Center for Microdata, demands standardization of secure processing environments and encourages additional steps towards the more general availability of metadata.

New software tool: ChemAudit
NFDI4Chem presents another tool: ChemAudit validates chemical molecules to avoid incorrect structure mappings, undefined stereocenters, inconsistent standardisations and many other sources of error.
This is yet another tool, alongside Chemotion ELN and our repositories, Terminology Service, Search Service and Cheminformatics Microservices, that makes data handling much easier for chemists.

Towards FAIR Astrophysical Simulations
An article on FAIR
astrophysical simulations has been published, examining how the FAIR principles can be applied to numerical astrophysics,
especially in high-performance computing (HPC)
environments. Identified key obstacles are huge simulation datasets, limited incentives for sharing, and a lack of workflows and support for data/software publication. The authors propose low-threshold steps and tools for FAIR (meta-)data generation and open
data/code publication, inviting the community to adopt more FAIR practices.

The “International Journal of Digital Earth” has published a new article entitled "A
Scalable Matching Approach for
the Comparison of Agricultural Land Use Maps Based on Corresponding Field Polygons,"
which deals with the creation of synergies between diverse data sets containing polygons of agricultural land and their quality assurance. Another FAIRagro publication: "Long-Term
Field Experiments Overview Map:
An interactive open-access metadata
platform to enhance networking and data reuse“ in ”Computers and Electronics in Agriculture" deals with a novel
overview map of long-term experiments in agriculture (LTEs) – with special consideration given to the FAIR principles.

New Publication: Active-Site Design for Sustainable Carbonylation
In the Journal of Catalysis (2026), researchers from the KIT, together with partners from hte GmbH, BASF SE, Leipzig University, and the University of
Padua, present how incorporating phosphorus into palladium enables highly efficient catalysts for the carbonylation of aryl halides.
Supported by the NFDI4Cat community, this study illustrates how data-driven catalysis research and open research data can accelerate the design of next-generation sustainable catalysts.

Spotlight on MathModDB
In the new MaRDI
newsletter, the spotlight is on MathModDB, a platform that supports knowledge exchange across disciplines, especially for sharing and comparing mathematical models.
Mathematical models translate real-world problems into variables and equations, and a single formula can often describe many different real-world applications. The main article and the Data Date video interview offer examples of how MathModDB can be used in
practice.

NFDI4DS Portal
The NFDI4DS Portal allows
for searching and exploring resources from NFDI4DS and other NFDI consortia across a variety of repositories. It aims to support the entire data processing chain from collection, aggregation, provision, and use. Target research artifacts are papers, datasets,
models, and code.
The portal supports users with an interactive webpage with integrated search and exploration, data quality assessment, and a SPARQL endpoint.

Is a "digital dark age" looming? – NFDI4Memory publishes position paper
The "NFDI4Memory Position Paper: Ensuring we still have a past in the future – For education and teaching in archiving and history that is appropriate for the digital age" draws attention to the
need for action in education and teaching in archiving and history. The position paper was developed as part of the "Linking Data|Linking Communities" summer school at the Baden-Württemberg State Archives.

FAIRmat at Love Data Week 2026
Earlier this month, FAIRmat joined Love Data Week 2026 with a series of events. A joint workshop, “Challenges in Data Reusability”, co-organized with DAPHNE4NFDI and the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration
(HMC), explored Reusability as a core FAIR principle. A coffee talk by Siamak Nakhaie and a social media series highlighted
NOMAD as a platform where experimental and computational materials data are stored, structured, and made accessible.
