Call for Contributions for UC4B2026 (
https://events.gwdg.de/event/1337/abstracts/)

Background and Scope
Today, research data is still often distributed across numerous repositories, hard to locate, and available only for a limited time. The NFDI seeks to improve the findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability (FAIRness) of research data.
Within this framework, Base4NFDI integrates and establishes Basic Services – shared, interoperable solutions that address cross-disciplinary needs. Existing services are being adapted and extended to support researchers from other domains, helping to avoid redundant developments and foster sustainable, community-driven infrastructures. The long-term goal is to shape, together, the evolving service portfolio that Base4NFDI contributes both to the NFDI ecosystem and to the broader RDM landscape together.

The Base4NFDI User Conference (UC4B) has become a central forum for presenting, discussing, and operationalizing current developments in Base4NFDI-funded services, fostering exchange on incubator projects, community integration efforts, and strategic service topics across the NFDI. This year marks the third edition of the conference.
The 2026 program welcomes contributions from across the NFDI and beyond. Members of sections, working groups, consortia, Basic Service teams, and related initiatives are invited to participate and share their ideas and experiences as well as best practices.

Call for Contributions
We invite the submission of abstracts showcasing activities and experiences related to Base4NFDI or Basic Services in the context of the NFDI.

Possible types of contributions:

When submitting, please indicate the category most relevant to your contribution. The program committee reserves the right to reassign accepted abstracts to a different category.

By contributing, participants can increase the visibility of their work, exchange insights with stakeholders from across the NFDI, and help identify opportunities for broader adoption and integration of services.

IAM4NFDI: Call for Incubators August 2026

Do you have an AAI-specific use case that you need support to implement? Then this is your chance. The IAM4NFDI project has planned so-called incubator cycles to be able to react flexibly to the wishes of future users. With the incubator cycles you can bring in your ideas and needs for the NFDI-AAI and, thus, help shape its development.

The next incubator cycle starts on August 1st, 2026 and they hereby call for applications. Please note the submission deadline is July 13, 2026

What do you have to do?

  1. Please look at the attached description of the process
  2. Completely fill out the template provided in the process description, describe your incubator project idea and send it to the service by mail.
  3. Present your idea to the Main Incubator Board (MIB) on July 30, 2026 (details to follow) in 5 minutes and answer any remaining questions. Please send the team the presentation afterwards.
  4. Your support and participation in the implementation of the incubator cycle is essential – please, plan for this and ensure that you can contribute during the period before submitting your idea.

Please also have a look at their website if you have any further questions about the IAM4NFDI project. You can also find more detailed information in their presentation at the NFDITalk.

IAM4NFDI checks all submissions and, if necessary, reserve them for following incubator cycles. The selection of incubator projects is made in consultation with Base4NFDI and depending on their available capacities. If you have already submitted an idea in one of the last cycles and received feedback that you have been earmarked for the next round, you do not have to submit your idea again - if it has not changed.

They will let you know by July 23, 2026, whether your incubator project idea can be implemented in the next cycle.
